Poetry as Sacrament
The word sacrament is defined as “words conferring a specific grace.” A poem can offer such grace, mysteriously opening us from the inside out beyond the reaches of the rational mind. The rhythms, words and music of poetry can literally change brain chemistry, dissolving patterns of thought, feeling, and physiology and igniting an upwelling of what is true, innocent, intimate, and holy. Thus a poem spoken from the heart can be a holy communion, melting walls within and between us.
In the darkest moment of her life, when even the most profound spiritual and psychological teachings could not reach her, Kim Rosen found poetry. Join her for a rich communion of mystical poems, music, guided meditation and lecture on the transformative power of poetry.
